Haberfield is a heritage listed suburb that lies in the Inner West approximately 9km west of Sydney’s CBD.

Nicknamed the “Garden Suburb,” Haberfield consists of mainly large and well preserved Federation era homes sitting on wide tree-lined streets. The suburb was established in 1901 which was the year of Australia’s Federation. The estate’s founder, Richard Stanton coined the slogan “Slumless, laneless, publess” in stark contrast to the earlier and more polluted settlements closer to the city. With its parks and open spaces, Haberfield remains much the same today. You will notice that unlike its neighbouring suburbs, there are no rear lanes because from the outset, every house was connected to the mains sewer.

Today Haberfield has a distinctly Italian flavour and is possibly even more worthy of the title, “Little Italy” than neighbouring Leichhardt. This can be felt throughout the cafes, restaurants, delis and cake shops that are centred around the intersection between Ramsay and Dalhousie Streets.

Apart from the section along the Parramatta Road, the entire suburb is relatively affluent. The most sought after position is the Dobroyd Point peninsula.

Buyers Domain property buyers agents operate from neighbouring Leichhardt. With an extensive knowledge of Haberfield real estate and with many local connections, Buyers Domain will be able to source your next home in Haberfield.
